Sankara – A Stage Play by Adedapo Treasure

Thomas Sankara was one of Africa’s most important anti-imperialist leaders of the late 20th Century. His declaration that fundamental socio-political change would require a ‘certain amount of madness’ drove the Burkinabe Revolution and resurfaced in the country’s popular uprising in 2014.

“We have to hide the revolution in the place where it can never be destroyed. We have to plant the revolution in the hearts of the people, in their genes; where it will be passed on from one generation on to another. Evergreen, never waning.”

Sankara was a pan-African leader and revolutionary whose life was cut short by friends acting on behalf of his enemies.
